This was a really really great show! The Black Crowes rocked the whole place and it was probably the best show I’ve been to! I got to be in the first row so I got a good view of the stage. They took quite a while to set up the stage, and before they came up one of the crew members lit incense and put it near the stage. The length of the show was just perfect, because any longer and it would have seemed like it was kind of dragging a bit. The backup singers did a good job, and Chris was in fine form, his voice was really great and he seemed to be in a good mood. His harmonica solo in Kickin’ was really amazing! too! Rich’s guitar was really great, and Audley’s was impressive. I like him a lot, since he adds new and interesting riffs to some of the songs. He’s got down all the solos and he was just excellent! Sven was really into the show and he did a great job playing, he went all over the fretboard and you could hear his bass throughout the show. Sven and Rich sang backup vocals along with the backup singers. There weren’t any mistakes that I heard, except for maybe a couple and the show went really smoothly since they had the transitions between songs down! Ed wasn’t as audible as I had hoped, but he did a great job and you could tell when he had those keyboard solos. Steve’s drumming was great, and he kept up high energy throughout the show. The only negative part of the show was when RICH actually stopped the band during Wiser Time when some idiot was throwing things at the band. Chris threatened to cut the show short if they did it again. The sound was really good, except for the keyboardist, who should have been turned up a little. Audley used a variety of guitars, fender, and gibson LP. Rich had some really cool looking custom guitars, and he changed guitars after almost each song. Rich and Audley both played some good slide guitar, Rich used a steel slide and Audley used glass. Sven played with Mesa Boogie bass amp, and Rich used a Marshall amp, Audley played on a brand that I didn’t recognize. The lighting was ok, but I’ve seen much better, but I guess you can’t expect much at a small club like this. The crowd seemed really into the show, probably because it was a really great hard rocking show! The band wore rather normal looking clothes, nothing unusual for them. Chris didn’t have a hat like I had seen in pictures of other shows. He did wear a really nice necklace with a silver crowe head on the end. He had a lot of energy and danced around the stage during the whole show. All the songs were good, but my favorites were Gone , Wiser Time and My Morning Song. They had a lot of extended jams and transitions during the show, but the best was during my morning song, when they busted out the Whole Lotta Love riff! It was amazing.. if you closed your eyes, it would seem like you’re in another world! The new songs were awesome!! Kickin' was great, even better live than studio, and Heavy is really good with a great riff, but my favorite song is By Your Side. The lyrics and feeling of that one really got to me, because I can relate to that song. Judging from these, the new album is going to be really good even though its different. I think that the Crowes are getting better with time and a little change once in a while is good for them. Well, this proved that the Black Crowes are better than ever and the new members are really good! It was probably the best show that I’ve been to. I hope that everyone else gets a chance to see them on this tour, otherwise we’ll see them again on the World Tour! ~ Ravi Crowes' Nest - http://www.seas.ucla.edu/~ravi/crowesnest.html
